Contra Dancing in Ottawa

The City of Ottawa has Contra dancing once or twice each month.  This page provides  a combined Schedule of  Contra Dances in Ottawa and   links to  Contra Dances in the nearby region and festivals of interest near Ottawa. Even though the information here is presumed to be accurate and kept current, however,  please note that the information is gathered mostly by consulting flyers, e-mail or by word of mouth and similar unofficial resources and there may be last minute changes. Please feel free to contact me if you find that information here is not correct and needs updating. Dance Schedule

Dances at All Saints' Anglican Church start at 8:00 PM sharp
and admission is $10.00 per person.
 
All dances have a beginner's workshop starting at 7:30 PM where the basics of Contra Dancing are taught. 
The teachers include Catherine Burns, the featured caller or Maura Volante.

The organizers request that In consideration of those who have allergies,
please refrain from using perfume or cologne.
Please use unscented products if at all possible.

Old Sod Folk Music Society
                                     

presents Contra Dancing, once a month, featuring a live band of the Old Sod Band: Ian Robb (concertina), Ann Downey (bass, banjo), Philip Murphy (guitar, mandolin, triangle), Tim Cutts (mandola, banjo, guitar, harmonica), Ian Clark (guitar), and Dan Schryer (fiddle). The Caller will be Catherine Burns
All dances are taught and walked through. No partner is necessary and beginners, alone or with a partner are always welcome.
If you are new to contra dancing it is suggested that you arrive before the first dance as the teaching is more detailed at the beginning of the evening. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
All dances will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 317 Chapel Street, Ottawa. Please note that floors of All Saints' Church have been refinished and soft soled shoes are required in the hall.

The Ottawa Valley Contra Dance

A series of Contra Dances featuring a visiting guest band and caller. All dances are taught and walked through. No partner is necessary, and beginners, alone or with a partner are always welcome.
If you are new to contra dancing it is suggested that you arrive before the first dance, as the teaching is more detailed at the beginning of the evening. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
The church has asked us to make sure you clean your shoes before you start dancing and to not use shoes that mark the floor.
The Dances are held at All Saints' Anglican Church at 317 Chapel St. Ottawa (the same venue as the Old Sod Dances.)
All dances start at 8:00pm, Admission is $10.00 at the door, $8.00 for students.
